Alessandro “Sonny” Caruso

March 25, 1953 – April 6, 2026

Alessandro “Sonny” Caruso, a man whose heart was as big as his heritage, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, surrounded by the family that was his greatest pride. He was 73 years old.

Born in the coastal beauty of Gaeta, Italy, Sonny took a courageous leap at the age of 18, immigrating to America to build a new life. It was here that he found his true north: AnnMarie. Together, they shared a beautiful love story spanning 51 years—a marriage built on devotion, laughter, and a deep, unshakable partnership.

To know Sonny was to love him. He was a man of action and community, serving for over 25 years as a pillar of the Appian Club in Stoneham. As a long-time President, Sonny was the soul of the club—whether he was in the kitchen cooking for a crowd, meticulously planning the next celebration, or leading a meeting with the pride of a man who loved his roots.

While his civic accomplishments were many, Sonny’s greatest titles were Dad and Nonno. His children, Michelle and Chris, were his pride and joy. However, a special new chapter began with the birth of his grandson, Greysen. Sonny found a true "best friend" in Greysen, and he cherished every moment spent passing down stories, sharing his trades, and creating a bond that will transcend time.

Sonny is the beloved husband of AnnMarie (Marfione) Caruso. He is the cherished father of Michelle Caruso-Lynch and her husband Brian, and Chris Caruso and his fiancée Vivian Nguyen. He was the doting grandfather of Greysen Lynch and step-grandfather of Cory and Evan Lynch. The son of the late Antonio and Maria (Romano) Caruso, he was the dear brother of Cosmo and Salvatore Caruso. Sonny also leaves behind his loyal "grand-pups," Tully, Champ, and Marla, who he loved dearly - and who loved him just as much. Sonny also leaves behind a very special bond with his brother-in-laws, sister-in-law and nieces and nephews.
