Alfred A. Scott of Reading passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn. He was 94 years of age.



Born in Everett, Alfred was the loving son of the late Pearl (Rowe) Scott and Richard Scott.



Alfred was a kind and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be fondly remembered for his sharp intellect, quick wit and loving, engaging personality. He worked for over 40 years at Fawcett Oil Company and retired as General Manager. An avid Red Sox Fan and proud witness to three Red Sox World Championships, Al's charisma and charm endeared him to all who met him. Dad/Grandpa was deeply admired and loved by his children and grandchildren; he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.



Alfred was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Keating) Scott. Devoted father of Allen Scott and his wife Maureen of Newport, ME, Carol Scott and her husband Bill Dooling of Holliston, Susan Scott Craven and her husband David, John Scott and his wife Mary all of Reading, Richard Scott and his wife Linda of Tewksbury and Kevin Scott and his wife Maureen of Centerville. Cherished grandfather of 15, great grandfather of 1. Loving brother of Lillian Atkins of Fallbrook, CA, Bernice Talbot of Clearwater, FL and Leona Ulbing of Alachua, FL.



Funeral from the Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St., READING Tuesday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Alfred's Eternal Life in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30 am. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Monday 4-8 pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants will be available.
