Amelio Marrocco

April 29, 1918 — December 24, 2001

Amelio "Mickey" Marrocco died Monday December 24, 2001 after a brief illness. He was 83 years of age.

Born in Casino Italy, Mr. Marrocco was a life long resident of Stoneham. He retired from Atlantic Gelatin working 46 years as an Industrial Mechanic. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II.

Mickey loved sports. He was captain of the Stoneham High School football and basketball team and played baseball as well. He loved his family and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was the co-founder of the Stoneham Little League, late Commissioner of Stoneham Housing Authority, President and co-founder of Atlantic Gelatin Retiree Association, Member of Wakefield Retired Men's Club and Member of St. Patrick Holy Name Society. He was a very active member of the Stoneham Senior Center.

He was the husband of Olga (DeDominici) Marrocco and father of Robert M. Marrocco and his wife Mary of Reading, Janet A. Merlino and her husband Jack of Stoneham, Paul P. Marrocco and his wife Arlene of Brockton, and his four loving grandchildren Laura Marrocco, Robert Marrocco, Michelle Merlino, and Jaclyn Merlino. He was the brother of Frank Minghella of Stoneham, Attilio Minghella and his wife Mary of Stoneham, Ernest (Lanie) Minghella and his wife Marianne of Stoneham, Jennie Salera of Stoneham and the late Thomas Minghella of Andover. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours at the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (Rte. 28) STONEHAM on Thursday 3-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham on Friday December 28th at 10 a.m. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.

Donations in memory of Mickey may be made to St. Patrick Parish Building Fund 9 Pomeworth Street. Stoneham, MA. 02180.
