Luongo, Americo L. Jr. "Rick"- of Reading, formerly of Malden and Revere, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 66. Devoted husband of forty years to Joanne (Gochis) who together taught their children the importance of family and strong values. Beloved son of the late Florence "Flora" (Montagna) and Americo S. Luongo. Proud brother of Joseph and his late wife Anne Marie Luongo of the North End, Anthony Luongo, Robert Luongo and his wife Karen of Revere, Jonathan and his wife Debbie of Methuen and the late George Luongo.  Rick lived for his cherished children; his daughter Lisa Marie of Reading, son Michael and his loving wife Erica of Wilmington, son Americo J. and his significant other Erica and youngest son Christopher of Reading. Anyone who knew Rick, understood that his absolute pride and joy were his cherished grandchildren Ayden and Madison, who will carry precious memories of "Papa" forever. Rick is also survived by many friends, cousins, nieces, nephews and he loved and cared for each of them with everything he had. After Rick served in the armed services, he worked for forty years at John Hancock in Boston where his friends and coworkers always remembered him to be a loyal and very funny friend. Rick enjoyed golfing, bowling on his many teams, umpiring for softball and making memories with extended family. Above all else in this world, Rick wanted nothing more than to be with his children and grandchildren, watching everyone laugh together, playing a game, celebrating a fun time, swimming in the pool or golfing with his cherished boys. Rick's Funeral will be from the Cota Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21 ^st at 9:30 am.  His Funeral Mass will be held in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4-8pm. Interment Wood End Cemetery, Reading. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick's name may be made to a Veteran's charity of your choice.
