Amy L. (McDonough) Vaughan of Salem, formerly of Malden, passed away on March 31, 2015 at home after a battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 41. She touched the lives of many people with her infectious smile and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Amy is a graduate of Nazareth Catholic High School in Wakefield and Northeastern University. Amy's natural ability to care for others brought her to a career as a nurse in the cardiac intensive care unit at Brigham & Women's Hospital. She became a strong advocate for pancreatic cancer and spoke at numerous events including a spot on the radio for the Jimmy Fund Telethon. Her dedication to advocacy of pancreatic cancer coupled with her effervescent spirit and courage made her an inspiration for many others who are battling the disease. Amy very much loved the beach, being with her dog "Dutchie" and making the world smile, one person at a time. She will be best remembered by being known for her ability to become everyone's best friend through her caring nature, bright smile and ever present sense of humor.
Amy is the beloved wife of Jeffrey Vaughan. She is the devoted daughter of Sarah A. (Carson) McDonough and the late James M. McDonough. Amy is the loving daughter in law of Linda and Bob Vaughan. She is also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Tuesday April 7, 2015 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Amy's Eternal Life in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10:00am. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 4-8pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and handicapped elevator available.
