Andrew F. Cronin of Chelsea, formerly of Stoneham passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the Soldier's Home in Chelsea. He was 81 years of age.
Born in Stoneham, Mr. Cronin was a longtime resident of Stoneham before moving to Chelsea. He was a dedicated accountant for Malden Gasoline Company before he retired. Mr. Cronin was a decorated World War II Army veteran where he received prestigious awards such as the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He served our country in Italy, the European African, and Middle Eastern Operations. He was a member of the Melrose V.F.W., the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans Organization.
Andrew loved the piano. He played in many clubs in his earlier years and played at gatherings at the Soldiers Home for his friends. He was also known as the "Professor" at the home sharing his historian memoirs with everyone there.
Mr. Cronin was the husband of the late M. Patricia (White) Cronin. He was the father of Corinne Bernat and her husband John of Stoneham, the grandfather of Michael Bernat and his wife Kathleen of Maine, Heather Bernat Kodzis and her husband John of Wakefield and the great grandfather of Ruby Rose Kodzis and John Paul Bernat.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Michael's Chapel, 91 Crest Avenue Chelsea Friday at 10:00am. Interment will take place at 1:30pm in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne
