Angelo C. Luongo of Methuen, formerly of Stoneham passed away at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts on May 14th, 2021. He was 84 years of age.
Angelo is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Sandra (Rufo) Luongo. He leaves behind his two devoted sons Mark Luongo and his wife Cheryl and Michael Luongo and his wife Melissa. Angelo is the cherished "Papa" of Abigail Luongo. He is also survived by his loving sister Claire Garrett and her husband Mike as well as his 2 dear sisters in-law Cheryl Rigoli and her husband James and Mary Luongo. Angelo will be missed by many family members including his three beloved nieces Darcie McFadries and her husband Steve, Marianne Mcbroom and her husband Robert, and goddaughter Lorrie MacGilvray Lamb. He will be remembered fondly by his nephews Brian Rigoli and his partner Jill Grano, David Luongo and his wife Sharon, John Luongo and his partner Cheryl Jones, Joseph Luongo and his wife Kathy, and Steve Luongo and his wife Denise. Angelo is pre-deceased by his parents, Joseph Luongo and Anna Luongo, his brother Joseph Luongo, and his nephew Ricky Luongo.
Angelo, affectionately nicknamed "Angie" was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from high school at Cambridge Rindge and Latin. Angelo was a veteran in the service working as Military Police stationed in Seattle, Washington. Following his work in the MP's he attended Bentley College night school, graduating with a degree in accounting. Simultaneously, he worked as a teller at a local Cambridge bank. Eventually Angelo began work at the Law Firm of Ropes and Gray and spent the majority of his career at the firm. In 1975, he married the love of his life and best friend Sandra Luongo. Together they bought a house in Stoneham, Massachusetts where they lived happily for 43 years. In 1999, Angie retired from Ropes and Gray as Manager of the Trust Department. He enjoyed 22 happy years of retirement.
Angie loved traveling with his wife, family, and friends. He was fortunate enough to see many desirable destinations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, and Europe. Some of his most memorable trips included: touring Italy, cruising the Mediterranean, Hawaii, and visiting the Virgin Islands. Angie and Sandra also took annual long-term trips to Florida. He was fond of playing golf with friends and was an excellent billiards player. Angelo was a passionate professional sports fan rooting for the Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics. He also supported the Italian National Soccer team, loved watching the Italian League, and European Soccer. More than anything, Angelo loved spending happy moments with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who have had the chance to know him.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Mass Celebrating Angelo's Eternal Life on Saturday, May 22nd at 10am in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street STONEHAM. Interment Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
