Anna (DiGiacomandrea) Distaso, of Melrose, passed away on Sunday December 17, 2023. She was 96 years of age.
Anna was born in Watertown, MA in 1927 and grew up on her family farm in Acton, MA. She often shared stories of her life as a youngster amongst the farm animals and crops; and being able to drive the family tractor and truck at 14. Years later, her family moved to East Boston. There she met her future husband,Ted, at General Electric in East Boston. He was back home following WWII Pacific duty in the U.S. Navy. They married and their years together developed into a family of four . They soon decided to build a home in Melrose, MA.
Anna loved to garden, grow roses and cook. She was a religious, generous person with a kind heart. Anna deeply loved her family and bevy of nieces and nephews. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and backyard barbecues. She loved to cook for family, friends and neighbors. A very loving lady, she was known for her fondness of babies and dogs. Frequent travelers, Anna and Ted relished exploring numerous destinations in the USA, Canada and Europe. Their cruises and visits to Italy and Florida were very special.
Anna was always very close to her family and many relatives. She cherished her three grandsons and was very proud of her three great grandchildren. A gem of a lady, she will truly be missed.
Anna is the beloved wife of the late Theodore Distaso. She is the cherished mother of Theodore Distaso Jr. and his wife Sandra and the late Judy Ann Gordon and her surviving husband Allen. Loving grandmother of Christopher Distaso and his wife Leilani, Kevin Distaso and his wife Alexandra and Sam Gordon and his wife Kelsey. Great grandmother of 3. Dear sister of Tito "Sonny” DiGiacomandrea and his wife Margaret and the late Concetta Mele and Carmine DiGiacomandrea Jr. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Tuesday December 26th, 2023 from 8:30 am to 10 am in the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Anna's Eternal Life in the Incarnation Church 429 Upham St. Melrose at 11. Interment Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
