Anna (Giangregorio) Martignetti

With hearts full of sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved wife and mother, Anna (Giangregorio) Martignetti, of Stoneham. Following a sudden and brief illness, Anna fought bravely, surrounded by the love of her family, before passing away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the age of 69. A woman of extraordinary warmth, beauty, and grace, she leaves behind a legacy of strength, unconditional love, and unbreakable bonds of family.

Born on January 28, 1957, in Apice, Italy, Anna was the loving daughter of the late Carmine Giangregorio and Angela (Lepore) Giangregorio.

Anna showed her strength from the very beginning. Born prematurely, she arrived in the world earlier than expected, tiny but mighty, with a fighting spirit. That spirited determination never left her.

Even as a young girl, Anna possessed a fierce sense of independence. She refused to follow traditional convention simply because it was expected and she was determined to choose her own future.

While growing up in Italy, Anna dreamed of a life in the United States. She spent countless hours studying the English language, often learning through her love of music. When she had the opportunity to travel to Boston with her sister, Elena, Anna seized it without hesitation.

It was at a party in Everett, Massachusetts, that Anna would meet the love of her life, Enrico. For both, it was love at first sight. During their very first encounter, Enrico boldly declared his intention to marry her. He wasted no time in pursuing Anna and asking her to marry him. Within months of meeting, the two were married on April 13, 1980, at St. Anthony’s Church in Everett. During their more than 46 years of marriage, Anna and Enrico renewed their vows over the years and celebrated every wedding anniversary with their children.

Anna and Enrico later discovered that their meeting in the United States may have been more than coincidence. Although nearly fifteen years apart in age, their families had crossed paths several times in Italy, long before Anna and Enrico met. Both were the youngest in their families and shared a strong sense of independence and a determination to make their own way in life.

Anna and Enrico began their married life and started a family in Somerville, where they lived for a few years before making their home in Stoneham. Their home was filled with warmth, lots of laughter, and the irresistible aromas of Anna’s cooking. For Anna, food was an expression of love. She took great pleasure in feeding family and friends, always making sure there was more than enough for everyone. The kitchen was also a special place for Anna and Enrico, who shared a love of cooking together. Even after decades of marriage, preparing a meal together was its own form of flirting and everyday romance.

Anna expressed her love through countless quiet acts of devotion. As a mother, she was gentle, loving, and always present. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a radiant smile, and a contagious laugh. She filled her children’s lives with joy, encouraged their creativity and delighted in their imaginations.

She was also her children’s trusted confidante. From childhood through adulthood, they shared with her their deepest worries, hopes, and dreams. Anna listened patiently, offered guidance when needed, and trusted her children to find their own way, always reassuring them that she was there. That same love extended to their partners and close friends, whom she embraced as her own.

Anna and Enrico approached parenthood as true partners. Rather than allowing worry or disagreement to divide them, they would make espresso together late into the evening, talking things through with an unwavering commitment to their family. Through their example, they taught their children that love is found not only in life’s happiest moments, but also in facing its challenges together.

Becoming a grandmother was one of Anna’s greatest joys. Her bond with her grandchildren was extraordinary. They adored their Nonna, who was an essential part of their daily lives. Whether something big or small happened, their first thought was to share it with Nonna. Anna was always ready to receive their stories with a big smile, the warmest hug, and a sense of wonder. Her grandchildren often said that their favorite place to be was snuggled up with Nonna. The love they shared will remain one of the most precious gifts she leaves behind.

Anna is the beloved wife of Enrico Martignetti. She is the devoted mother of Domenico Martignetti and his wife Lisa, Anna Maria Martignetti and her husband Daniel Dewalt, Marisa Martignetti, and Anysia Martignetti. She is the cherished grandmother of Felix Dewalt, Henry Dewalt, Mia Martignetti, Eliany Martignetti, Elizabeth Martignetti, and Christian Martignetti. Anna is the dear sister of Elena Licciardi and the late Antonio Giangregorio and Gennaro Giangregorio. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom she adored.
