Annunziata "Nancy" (Mitrano) Gulino

Annunziata "Nancy" (Mitrano) Gulino, of Peabody, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 23, 2026 with her family by her side. She was 86 years of age.

Born on June 7, 1940, in Boston, Massachusetts, Nancy was raised in Somerville, Massachusetts, where she developed the lifelong friendships and deep sense of family that remained at the heart of her life. She was the eldest daughter of the late Nicola and Rose Mitrano, whose roots traced back to Gaeta, Italy. She was a devoted sister to Erasmo "Ray" Mitrano and his wife, Diane, of Nahant, and Giovanna "Joanna" Mitrano of Nahant.

Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Gulino. She was a proud mother to her two sons, Alexander "Sandy" Gulino of Somerville and Nicola "Nick" Gulino and his wife, Amanda, of North Reading.

Her greatest joy in life was being "Nonna" to her five cherished grandchildren: Alexa and her husband, Peter, Alex, Alaina, Duncan, and Maxwell. They were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent celebrating their accomplishments, creating family memories, and simply being together.

A graduate of the Boston University School of Nursing, Nancy dedicated more than 45 years of her life to the nursing profession. As a Registered Nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, she served in Phillips House before becoming a transplant nurse, where her extraordinary compassion, skill, and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless patients and families. She cared for everyone with the same kindness, dignity, and love that she gave to her own family, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Nancy had a profound devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, whose love and protection were a constant source of comfort and inspiration throughout her life. Her faith shaped the way she lived—with compassion, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to caring for others. She found joy in serving those around her, and her life was a reflection of the love, kindness, and grace she so freely shared with family, friends, and patients alike.

Family and friends were the center of Nancy's world. She shared a special bond with her nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her love for family extended far beyond her immediate relatives, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate life's milestones or simply enjoy being together. She was blessed with lifelong friendships that began in childhood and continued throughout her life. Daily phone calls, regular visits, holidays, and celebrations filled her days with laughter and love, and she treasured every one of those relationships.

Nancy also expressed her love through cooking. Nothing made her happier than preparing a meal for the people she loved and gathering everyone around the table. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, conversation, chaos, laughter, and tradition, where everyone was always welcome and no one ever left hungry. Her famous homemade cutlets were the highlight of countless family gatherings and became one of the many traditions her family will cherish forever.

Nancy also had a vibrant personality and an unmistakable sense of style. She loved fashion and was never afraid to wear a little sparkle or add a touch of fun to every outfit. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes, and she could often be found watching QVC or HSN in search of her next favorite find. Whether it was a beautiful top, a piece of jewelry, or the latest clever gadget, Nancy delighted in sharing her discoveries with those she loved. Her sparkle wasn't just in the clothes she wore—it was in the way she lived her life, making those around her smile, laugh, and feel loved.

Nancy will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, unwavering compassion, and quiet strength. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, cared for, and loved. Her legacy lives on through her family, her many dear friends, the patients whose lives she touched, and the countless people who were fortunate enough to know her.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Nancy's love, kindness, laughter, and beautiful spirit will remain with us always. She will be profoundly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Funeral from the Barile Cota Family Funeral Home 335 Park St. NORTH READING Tuesday July 28th, 2026 at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Nancy's Eternal Life in St. Theresa Church 63 Winter St. North Reading at 10:30 am. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading.

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Monday July 27th, 2026 in the funeral home from 4 pm to 8 pm. Parking attendants available.
