Anthony J. "Tony" Melius Sr.

Anthony J. "Tony" Melius Sr., of Reading, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Thursday March 21, 2019. He was 72 years of age.

Born on March 15, 1947 in Boston, Tony was the loving son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Doolin) Melius. Tony was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.

Tony was a dedicated and devoted dispatcher for the MBTA for several years. He was a proud member of the Masons, the Shriners, Harley Owners Group (HOG), Fire & Iron Motorcycle Club, Elks, American Legion, Mystic Valley Gun Club, Local 103 IBEW, Local 589 Carmen's Union. During the Vietnam War, Tony proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army.

Tony was an avid outdoorsman and motorcycle enthusiast. Although Tony was a father to 2 sons, he was a "dad" to many.

Tony was the beloved husband of Patricia (Rosselle) Melius. He was the devoted father of Jason Melius and his wife Kimberly and Anthony Melius Jr. Tony was the cherished grandfather of Jacqueline and Julia. The dear brother of Gerald "Jerry" Melius, Ann Marie Dodson and the late Joseph Melius and his surviving wife Maureen, Tony is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Monday March 25th at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Tony's Eternal Life in Saint Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10:30 am. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Wood End Cemetery, Reading.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Sunday March 24th from 2 to 6pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator available.
