Arthur J. Adelizzi

November 22, 1925 — October 1, 2006

Arthur J. Adelizzi, of Stoneham passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was 80 years of age.

In 1962, after 12 years in the retail furniture business, the glamour of the road sounded too good to pass up, and Arthur became a manufacturers' representative, and joined the New England Home Furnishings Representatives Association.

That same year, he was appointed to the Association Board of Directors. The first year had hardly ended when he was asked to resign from the Board because he missed too many meetings and seemed to show little interest as a member of the Board. Obviously that must have had a sobering effect on him. Since that time Arthur has been appointed or elected to every position in both our New England organization and the International Association.

In 1967, he carried the title of President of the Home Furnishings Association of New England, followed in 1976 as President of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Association, with over 5,000 members. He now carries the titles of Chairman Emeritus of our Association, and Past President and Life Member of both Associations.

Arthur's work over these past 42 years has earned him numerous awards including our honored Robert R. Richmond Award of Eminence, The Matthew J. Koleman Good Fellowship Award, and the IHFRA "Man of Mark" Award.

On the personal side, his greatest pride is his family. Married for 57 years to Terri (Panetta) and father to his sons, Robert and John, and grandfather to five, Matthew, Kristin, Jaimie, Jenna and Anthony.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Arthur's life in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Wednesday 3-7pm. Parking attendants will be on duty. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
