Barbara Anne Cooper (née White), 92, of Sunapee, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026.
Barbara was born February 26, 1934, in Medford, Massachusetts, to the late Marie and Frank White. She grew up in West Medford, raised her family in Stoneham, Massachusetts, and later made her home in Sunapee, New Hampshire. She enjoyed a long and respected career as an executive assistant at Raytheon.
Generous and warm, Barbara loved photography, gardening, crafting, Mahjong, and tennis. She volunteered extensively in Sunapee, supporting the Sunapee Gardeners, the Sunapee Thrift Shop, the Sunapee Food Pantry, and through her creations for Christmas at The Fells in Newbury, NH.
Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered for her tireless devotion to her grandchildren, her baking, and her creative pursuits—extensive photography, up-cycling fabrics into beautiful pillows, quilts, holiday gnomes. She delighted in decorating for Christmas and cherished her cats. She also valued the many friendships she made through her ties to the greater Sunapee community.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bennie Ray Cooper; her son, Michael Cooper; her sister, Rita Burt and her brother, Sonny (Frank) White.
Barbara is survived by her son Steven Cooper (Karen) of Santa Cruz, California; her daughter Susan Hermanson (Todd) of Sunapee, New Hampshire; grandchildren Ingrid Ireland (Taylor Ireland), Elsa Hermanson, Shelby Kirsch, and Cooper Kirsch (Alyssa); and great-grandchildren Elijah, Ella, and Eden. She is also survived by her brother Paul White of Woburn, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews with whom she was particularly close.
