Barbara J. Thornton of Reading, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Winchester Hospital. She was 85 years of age.
Barbara was born in Indiana and moved to Reading at age 12. Barbara was educated in the Reading Public School system. She worked as a Seamstress for many years.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlepoint in her free time. She made ceramics using her own kiln. Barbara loved watching the Red Sox especially second baseman Bobby Doerr.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Thornton. She was the devoted mother of Forest P. Thornton and his wife Deborah of ME, William T. Thornton and his wife Jennifer of FL and Joel E. Thornton and his wife Lynne of Reading. Barbara was the cherished grandmother of 5 and loving great grandmother of 3. She was the dear sister of Marion O'Brien and her late husband Lawrence of Reading and the late Betty Ruderman and her husband Joseph. She was the daughter of the late Forest P. and Helen (Osterholt) Lynch.
A Funeral Service celebrating Barbara's Eternal Life will be held on Tuesday at 11am in the Chapel of the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a period of visitation prior to the Service beginning at 10:30am. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
