Barbara A. (Collins) Walsh of Stoneham passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Friday, January 31, 2020.
Born in Somerville, Barbara was the loving daughter of the late William and Helen (Noonan) Collins. Barbara was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was the beloved wife for 52 years of Joseph M. Walsh. The devoted mother of Jay Walsh and his wife Joanie, Kevin Walsh and his wife Linette, Mark Walsh and his wife Michaela and Kerri Moore and her husband Tom. The cherished "Mammy" (grandmother) of Ryan, Cam, Kyra, Tyler, Brenden, Will, Emma, Harper, Timmy, Riley and the late Casey. Barbara was the dear sister of Fran Collins and his wife Rosemary and the late Bill Collins and his wife Kathy. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family meant everything to Barbara. She never turned down an opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren whether it was attending sporting events and plays, assisting with homework, reading a book, playing a game, watching a movie, or asking about something that happened during their day. Barbara spent over 30 years as an English teacher in Somerville, Stoneham and Beverly. She dedicated her career to supporting her students in all aspects of their lives. She taught her family, her students, and her friends many lessons in life merely by the way she chose to live hers. Quiet by nature, Barbara's unselfishness was on display daily in her acts of kindness. Friends and family were never surprised to find a treat in the doorway, a card in the mailbox or a message on the phone, at the moment it was needed the most. She made everyone feel special.
