Bernard F. Bettinelli, age 95 of Woburn passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, surrounded by love.
He was born on June 3, 1930, in the West End of Boston to Bernardo and Francesca (Blandino) of Augusta, Sicily.
He was a Master electrician affiliated with Local 103, IBEW. On January 13, 1951, he enlisted in the Navy. From 1951-1954 he was an electrician’s helpmate aboard the U.S.S. Bennington aircraft carrier. On December 9, 1954, he was honorably discharged from the Navy. On that same day, he was sworn in at the Elks club, in which he was a member for nearly 72 years.
On January 9, 1955, he married his sweetheart, Anna. He graduated from Wentworth Institute in Boston on June 14, 1958, with an associate’s degree in engineering. On June 8, 1975, he graduated from Fitchburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
For over 25 years, he taught in the electrical department at Blue Hills Regional Technical High School in Canton, MA. He also taught electrical theory for several years in the apprentice program at the Local 103, IBEW. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout the years, including reading, cooking, painting, puzzles, poker, photography, various card games, traveling as well as playing on a bowling league. He was a licensed ham radio operator. He also enjoyed playing the Wurlitzer organ and later in life, the electronic keyboard. But nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time with this family, especially his grandchildren!
A service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 1:30-4:30p.m. at Barile Family Funeral Homes, located at 482 Main Street in Stoneham, MA. Interment will take place privately.
He was predeceased by his wife Anna D’Amato Bettinelli. He is also predeceased by his sisters, Tina Fruciano and Jenny Bramante and his brothers, Joseph Bettinelli and Domenic Bettinelli. He is survived by his brother Frank Bettinelli and sisters, Maryann Russo and Josephine Schipelliti. He is survived by his children, Francesca Bettinelli Federico and her husband, Robert, Bernard D. Bettinelli and his wife, Anna and Maria Bettinelli. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Michael Federico, Nicholas Federico and fiancé Eric Grube, Brianna Bettinelli and fiancé Rui Chen and Joseph Bettinelli and Romana Hussain. He was a loving uncle and godfather to his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
