Bertha O. Lyons

December 16, 1913 — May 15, 2006

Bertha O. (Nichols) Lyons of Wilmington, formerly of Reading, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2006 at Woburn Nursing Center in Woburn. She was 92 years of age.





Born in Reading, Bertha was the beloved daughter of the late Elmer B. Nichols and Rena E. (Flanders) Nichols. Bertha was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all.





Bertha worked as Restaurant manager at Mc-Canns's Ice Cream in Reading. When Bertha was 26 her mother passed away and she helped raise her two younger sisters who were 12 & 15 at the time. She spent much of her time caring for others' children and for handicapped adults.





Bertha enjoyed gardening, reading and had a great love of family and others around her.





Bertha was the beloved wife of the late Francis R. Lyons. She was the devoted mother of Paula Lyons of Yarmouth. Bertha was the cherished grandmother of Michelle Mack of Florida, Angel Mesquitta of Uxbridge, Christopher Adair of Sandown, New Hampshire, Anthony Trabucco of West Yarmouth. She was the great grandmother of Edward Bergmann of Beverly, Krystle Bergmann of Gloucester, Justin Clark of Lawrence, Marcus Mesquitta and Xavier Bolanos of Uxbridge. She was the dear sister of Eloise B. Lacey of Lady Lake, FL and Carolyn F. McCarthy of Reading. Bertha was also predeceased by 5 brothers and 1 sister.





A Funeral Service celebrating Bertha's life will be held on Friday at 11am in the Chapel of the Joseph Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours prior to the Service from 9-11am. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot located behind Atlantic Supermarket on Haven St. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
