Blanca Sofia Duarte de Sotomayor

Blanca S. Duarte de Sotomayor, of Stoneham, formerly of Caracas, Venezuela, passed away Wednesday January 21, 2026. She was 103 years of age.

She was a woman of a strong and daring spirit, who worked hard for the betterment of her family. A talented cake decorator, pottery painter and knitting enthusiast. She loved the outdoors, mostly her beloved Paparo.

Blanca is the beloved wife of the late Oswaldo Sotomayor. She is the cherished mother of the late Helen Sotomayor Vasquez and her surviving husband Edward Vasquez, Blanca Stella Sotomayor and Nora Susana Sotomayor. Loving grandmother of Elizabeth Vasquez, Suzanne Vasquez, Katherine Vasquez, Eddie Vasquez and his wife Esperanza Flores, Andres Molano Sotomayor and Sara Molano Sotomayor and great grandmother of Jonathan Vasquez and his wife Kimberly Vasquez, Naveed Vasquez, Danyal Vasquez, Noah Vasquez and Jordan Vasquez. She is the great great grandmother of Camila Mya Vasquez and Jaylen Jonathan Vasquez. Dear sister of Emma Duarte de Hernandez and the late Ignacio Duarte, Alvaro Duarte, Jaime Duarte, Leonor Duarte, Rosita Duarte Simpson-Orlebar. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with her family on Friday January 30th, 2026 in the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) from 4 pm to 8 pm and again on Saturday January 31st, 2026 from 8:30 - 9:30 before leaving in procession for a Funeral Mass Celebrating Blanca's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 am. Parking attendants and elevator available.
