Brendan Leonard Hoyt, a lifelong resident of Reading, beloved husband of 70 years of Sally M. (Marino) Hoyt, passed on March 20, 2015 at his home, at the age of 94.
Brendan was the loving son of the late Carl and Florence (Doucette) Hoyt. He was the loving best friend and hero of his children, Brendan L. Hoyt, Jr. Esq. and his wife Laura Lee, John E. Hoyt and Sally-Jean O'Grady and her husband Dr. Alan O'Grady. Brendan is also survived by his loving grandchildren Seth A. Hoyt, Emily Anne Hoyt and Jonathan F. Hoyt and his wife Shannon. Brendan was the dear brother of Quentin "Gil" Hoyt and his wife Barbara, Leonard Hoyt and his wife Patricia, the late Carl H. Hoyt and his surviving wife Dorothy, the late Richard Hoyt and his late wife Barbara, the late Ruth E. Fennelly and her late husband George and the late Patricia Hoyt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Brendan was employed by General Motors Corp. as a General Manager in Reading for many years. He was President of Crossways Real Estate and Reading Development Corp. He held Real Estate and Insurance Brokers licenses. Upon leaving the military, he was employed as Chief Aircraft Dispatcher a Logan International Airport. Brendan was a member of the Reading Knights of Columbus, served as Financial Secretary and was the longest serving member of that organization. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 62 in Reading. He served as tenor vocalist at Saint Agnes Church in Reading and at Saint Patrick Church in Stoneham for many years.
Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Brendan's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading, the church in which he was baptized 94 years ago, at 11am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
