Bruce E. Thistle

Bruce E. Thistle, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024,  after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 74 years of age. Bruce was the son of the late Bertram and Patricia Thistle.

Bruce was an avid runner and Boston sports fan. He ran several marathons over the years and his best finish time was 2:48 at the Boston Marathon in 1983. He won several  awards at Medford High School for his outstanding athletic performance in track and football.

Bruce cherished all of his memories with his late son Ryan golfing, attending New England Patriots games, and running alongside him as he finished his first Boston marathon. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren playing catch, listening to music, and dancing. He was a kind gentle soul and was loved by everyone.

Bruce is the beloved father of Taryn Spinazzola and her husband David and the late Ryan Thistle and his surviving wife Kimberly. Loving grandfather of Ava, Olivia, Jake and Emma. Dear brother of Roger Thistle and wife Doreen, Wayne Thistle, Janice Godfrey, and Bonnie Coletta . He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, his former spouse Kathleen Coppola and good friend Andrea Pappas.  Special thanks to the staff at Windrose at Woburn for the excellent care.
