Calder M. Rooney

August 3, 1938 — July 24, 2006

Calder M. "Skip" Rooney of North Reading formerly of Reading passed away on Monday July 24, 2006 at his home. He was 67 years of age.





Born in Acton, Skip was the loving son of the late George and Madeline (Innes) Rooney. Skip was a warm and caring son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all.





Skip was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. for 25 years and also at Woodco Machinery before owning Skip Rooney Equipment Sales. He enjoyed boating and golf. He had a great love of family and especially loved his grandchildren. Skip proudly defended our freedom while serving in the United States Army.





Skip was the beloved husband of 43 years to Gail (Mitchell) Rooney. Devoted father of Lynn (Rooney) Sullivan and her husband Brian Sullivan of Haverhill, MA, Scott Rooney and his wife Christine (Lloyd) Rooney of Hampstead, NH. Devoted and loving grandfather to Cody and Megan Sullivan and Ashley Rooney. Also survived by his sister Patricia (Rooney) Newell and her husband Fred of Norcross, GA, William Rooney and his wife Eleanor of Reading, MA, Leslie (Rooney) Corbin and her husband Michael of North Reading and sister-in-law Sandra Rooney of Salem, MA. Pre-deceased by his parents George and Madeline Rooney and brother George.





A Funeral Service celebrating Skip's life will be held on Thursday at 10am in the Chapel of Joseph Doherty-Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8pm. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot located behind Atlantic Supermarket on Haven St. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
