Carmine C. "Sam" Ferrante of Medford, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 87 years of age.
Born on April 18, 1926 in Somerville, Carmine was the loving son of the late Joseph Ferrante and Teresa (Pasquarillo) Ferrante. Carmine was a warm and caring son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Carmine grew up in Somerville and was educated in Somerville Public Schools. He married Marie (Galante) Ferrante in 1950 in St. Joseph's Church in Medford. He was a member and the former President of the Dante Club in Somerville. Carmine was the founder of Ferrante Tile of Medford. He enjoyed making wine, golfing and bowling with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his family at his family home in Dennis on Mayflower Beach on Cape Cod, where he enjoyed digging for clams.
Carmine was the beloved husband for 60 years of the late Marie (Galante) Ferrante. He was the devoted father of Janice Valente and her husband Dennis, Mark Ferrante and his wife Kathy, Judy Bando and her husband Chuck, Carmine "Chuckie" Ferrante and the late Joseph Ferrante. The father in law of Ellen Ferrante, he was the beloved uncle of Nancy Scarfo and her husband Ray. Carmine was the cherished grandfather of Carmine, Joseph, Lee, Jillian, Daniel, Janine, Deanna, Jonathan, Mark, Erik, Christian, Charles, Cameron and Jayden. He was the loving great grandfather of Gabriella, Ava, Olivia and Bruno. Carmine was the dear brother of Marie "Mae" Palermo, Antoinette Baia and the late Anna Dellacava. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass Celebrating Carmine's Eternal Life will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 10:30am in St. Joseph's Church, 114 High St. MEDFORD. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
