Carolann (DeSalvo) Amico

Carolann (DeSalvo) Amico of North Reading passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, February 22, 2025. She is survived by her husband, Angelo S. Amico Sr., and their five children: Jeanann Williams and her husband, David, of Tewksbury; Denise Donohue of Tewksbury; Angelo Amico Jr. and his wife, Gina, of Reading; Joseph Amico Sr. and his partner, Stacie LaValley, of Londonderry, NH; and Christopher Amico of Methuen. Loving sister of Christopher “Pugsy” DeSalvo, his wife, the late Diane Huckins DeSalvo, and his life-partner, Sandra Starr. She was the cherished “Mimi” of Maren and David (DJ) Williams; Timmy Donohue, the late Christopher Donohue and his wife, Sarah Silva; Gabrielle, Sebastian and Salvatore Amico; Joseph Amico Jr., Brenden Amico and his wife, Alejandra Machado; Emily and Michael Amico; step-grandchildren, Thomas LaValley, the late Nicholas Lavalley, Allison and Jessie Roes and the "Great Mimi" of Leah LaValley.

Carol was born on July 22, 1940 in Woburn, MA. She was the loving daughter of the late Christopher DeSalvo and Vienna (Macinanti) DeSalvo and the sister of Christopher “Pugsy” DeSalvo.

Carol grew up on Fowle Street in the South End of Woburn, close to her grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Woburn Public Schools and was a graduate of the Class of 1958.  While she was in high school, she met Angelo, who worked at Lentini’s Market and they married shortly after her graduation. They made their home on Main Street in Woburn where they soon started their family. Carol was a stay-at-home mom for the five loves of her life - Jeanann Williams, Denise Donohue, Angelo, Joseph, and Christopher Amico until they started school.

She worked in various healthcare positions, as a nurse’s aide for the Choate Hospital and then as a home healthcare aide at Country Club Heights and The Gables.

She loved volunteering: as a communicant of St. Athanasius Parish, she was a lector, Eucharistic Minister and holiday fair volunteer for the baked goods room. As a resident of the town of Reading, she volunteered her time during elections.

Carol enjoyed family get-togethers and cookouts in parents’ backyard, as well as socializing and traveling with her many close friends from Woburn and TOPS. Her most memorable trip was with her husband, Angelo, to visit family in Sicily. She was an avid Boston sports fan who also enjoyed reading and watching movies. She loved to cook but baking was her specialty - especially her fig and Italian cookies.

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and the time she spent with them brought her much happiness. She maintained close relationships with her children and grandchildren, always willing to help and listen.

You could talk to her about “anything” and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.

Mom, you will be forever missed.

A celebration of her life will be held at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, MA on Monday, March 17th, at 10:00AM.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, in honor of her late grandson, Christopher Donohue, at www.nami.org/.
