Carolyn Berg, 96, of Naples Florida, who resided at Pipers Grove for the past 26 years, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2022.
Carolyn was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 3, 1925, the only child of Frederick and Helen Recktenwald. After marrying Robert Berg on June 21, 1947, the couple moved to Des Plaines, Illinois where they resided, raised seven children and were active in the community. In 1970, Carolyn and Robert relocated the family to Reading, Massachusetts, where they resided until they retired to Naples, Florida in 1993.
After Robert's passing in January, 1996, Carolyn remained in Naples. Carolyn's primary focus was always the welfare and happiness of her family, friends and the communities in which she lived. Carolyn stayed physically, mentally and socially engaged and active throughout her long-life. She was an avid bridge player and golfer. She remained closely connected with her church, her wide circle of friends and her ever-growing family. Carolyn's perennial interest and deep knowledge of professional sports (particularly the NFL) allowed Carolyn to connect across generations.
Carolyn was the mother of 7 children, Kenneth, Karen, Fred, David, Diane, Robert and Ann, and had eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her family will remember her as a caring, kind mother who would always spark laughter and open her heart and home to her family and friends. She will be sorely missed.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Mass Celebrating Carolyn's Eternal Life on Monday, January 31st at 10:30am in Saint Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill Street READING. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
