Catherine Anne (McCarthy) Dawson, beloved wife of the late Hugh Dawson, passed away on Thursday, March 20th, 2025 with her devoted sons by her side. Born in Boston, she is the loving daughter of the late Charles and Anne (McCaffrey) McCarthy.

Kay proudly grew up in the Mission Hill section of Roxbury. She was a graduate of Mission High. She began her working career as a telephone operator. Kay and her Husband Hugh settled in Medford to raise their family.  She truly had the pleasure of managing the Friendly's restaurant in the Meadow Glenn Mall making many friends along the way. To end her career Kay worked as a clerk in the probation department at the Somerville courthouse.

Catherine was an avid reader, loved to garden and spent summers in Hollis, New Hampshire. Kay and Hugh enjoyed spending time together especially with their greatest joy, their Grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed by her family and loved ones.

Catherine is the devoted mother of James Dawson and his wife Tiffany of Billerica, Brad Dawson of Stoneham and the late Barry Dawson. Jerry Ann Harnish of Plymouth, Judy McShane of Plymouth, Robert Dawson and his wife Roberta of North Carolina and the late Brian Dawson. Cherished Grandmother of Liam, Rory and Nolan Dawson and loving Nana Kay to Ritchie, Kerriann, Robin, Tammy, Eric, Ryan, Ashley, Alexandra, and the late Robbie. Great Grandmother of Christina, Makayla, Jacob, Kylie, Shaylyn, Kaydyn Chayce, Emery, Hunter, Jackson, Maverick, Hayley and Baker. Great great grandmother of Joshua, Dominic, Kaiden and Sophia. Beloved sister of John McCarthy and his wife Marie, Charles McCarthy and his wife Terry, Gerard McCarthy and his wife Terry, the late Ellen McCarthy, Mary Duffy and James McCarthy. Loving sister in law to George Duffy, loving God Mother of Elizabeth Roosevelt and loving Aunt to Kevin, Stephen, Johnny, Kelly, Jennifer and James. Also family friend Christopher Barnard.

Funeral to be held from Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading (Corner of Park St. and Rt. 28 at the Reading Line) on Friday, March 28th, 2025 at 9:30am, Followed by a Funeral Mass to celebrate Catherine at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway W, Medford at 10:30am.

Burial to follow in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Family and friends are cordially invited to visiting hours at the Cota Funeral Home, on Thursday, March 27th, 2025 from 4 to 7pm.
