Catherine Rita (Pesaturo) Penney

Catherine Rita Penney (formerly Pesaturo) passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born to the late Jerome Pesaturo and Catherine (Finnegan) Pesaturo, Catherine grew up in Malden, where she shared a warm and close childhood with her siblings.

After graduating from Malden High School, Catherine began her professional life at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Catherine later married the love of her life, the late Walter Penney, Jr., and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. After starting her family, she devoted herself to raising her children. She often said it was the greatest joy of her life.

Catherine had the most generous heart and the gentlest spirit, and she poured love into everyone around her. She had a way of making people feel truly seen and valued, whether it was with her warm smile, her patient listening ear, or her genuine curiosity about your life. Her kindness and warmth touched everyone who was lucky enough to know her. They were gifts she shared so naturally, every single day.

Catherine will always be remembered as a caring, compassionate, and joyful presence in all of our lives. To our family and to everyone who knew her, she was a light. Her memory we will carry with us, always.

Catherine was the devoted mother to her daughter Jan and husband Daniel Fleming, her son Joseph and his wife Christine Penney, and her son John and his wife Cherylyn Penney. She was the proud grandmother to Joe and his wife Raisa Penney, Alyssa Penney, Jarred Penney, Justin Penney, and Janelle Penney, and a doting great-grandmother to Camden and Joseph Penney.

She is also survived by her loving sister, Barbara Falcone, and is predeceased by her siblings Regina DiSanto, James Pesaturo, and Arthur Pesaturo. Catherine leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

Family and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Mass Celebrating Catherine's Eternal Life on Tuesday, November 25th at 10:30am in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
