Catherine Ann (Buckley) Quimby of Hingham, formerly of Reading passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011 at her home. She was 80 years of age.
Born in Needham, Catherine was the loving daughter of the late Leo E. Buckley and Mary (Gilbert) Buckley. Catherine was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be sorely missed.
Catherine was the former Town Clerk of Reading from 1984 - 1996. She was a member of Reading Town Meeting. She was the President of Legal Woman Voters in Reading as well as a member of the Red Hat Society. Catherine was active in both St. Agnes and St. Athanasius Churches in Reading and also a member of the Garden Club in Meredith, New Hampshire.
Catherine was the beloved wife of Burton Joseph Quimby. She was the devoted mother of B. Joseph Quimby Jr. and his wife Lorraine Martin of New Hampshire, Edward Quimby and his wife Teresita of Methuen, Kathleen Quimby Tompkins and her husband Jeffrey of Hingham, Joanne Quimby of Indiana. Catherine was the cherished grandmother of Kegan and Alden Quimby, Greg Gilmore, Meredith, J.T., & Neal Tompkins and Catherine Quimby. She was the dear sister of Leo, John & Paul Buckley. She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Catherine's Eternal Life will be held on Tuesday in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Monday from 3-7pm in the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
