Charles J. Cullinane of Reading passed away peacefully in his home on March 31, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was 88 years of age.
Born in Somerville, Charles was the loving son of the late Charles M. Cullinane and Stella (Colford) Cullinane. Charles was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Charles was a retired teacher from the Minuteman Technical High School in Lexington. He was a member of the golf league at Hillview Country Club for many years. During the Korean War, Charles proudly defended our freedom by serving as a Private First Class in the United States Army.
Charles was the beloved husband of the late Margaret P. (Kearns) Cullinane. He was the devoted father of Charles M. Cullinane and his wife Catherine, Janice Schnabel and her husband John, Robert Cullinane and his wife Yasemin and Joanne O'Keefe and her husband Brian. The cherished grandfather of Kara Monteiro and her husband Marcus, Holly Schnabel, Kent Cullinane, Eric Cullinane, Kelly Cullinane, Julia O'Keefe, Liam O'Keefe, Thomas O'Keefe. Charles was the doting great grandfather of twins, Carter and Ethan Monteiro. He was the dear brother of the late William Nevin, Barbara Hunt and Timothy Cullinane. Charles was also survived by his brother in law, Thomas Hunt and several loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Mass Celebrating Charles' Eternal Life on Saturday, April 8th at 10:30am in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Wood End Cemetery.
