Charles J. Dell of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on Monday November 28, 2022 at the Sawtelle house in Reading. He was 101 years of age.
Charles was born in Boston and later moved with his family to Somerville where he grew up. Later in his life he moved to Stoneham where he has resided for 70 years. He joined the Coast Guard during World War II and was the recipient of the purple heart and other medals of honor. He worked for many years in Sales and then for Middlesex County in the Engineering Department. Charles was also a member of the Riverside Yacht Club in Medford. He loved to take cruises and travel many places in his younger days.
Charles is the loving son of the late Joseph F. and Lillian (Bonfiglio) Delorfano. He leaves behind his son, Charles J. Delorfano Jr. of Fort Lauderdale and his surrogate daughter Cathy, her husband Alex and daughter Jacqueline Tarani. He is survived by his sister in law Lorraine Delorfano, nephew Robert Delorfano Jr. and his wife Ann Marie as well as his special friend and neighbor, Brian DiScipio and his wife Stacey. He is predeceased by his sister, Lovey Tutela, brothers Joseph and Robert Delorfano. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Friday December 2, 2022 in the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM from 8:30 am to 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Charles' Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 am. Interment with Military Honors at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Parking attendants and elevator available.
