Charles E. Ivers of Stoneham passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Grosvenor Park Health Center in Salem. He was 92 years of age.
Born on June 8, 1926 in Somerville, Charles is the loving son of the late Edward Ivers and Mary (O'Connell) Ivers. Charles is a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Charles was a Deputy Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for several years. During World War II, Charles proudly defended our freedom by serving as an E-7 in the United States Navy. He was a loyal and dedicated member of the Sea Bees.
Charles is the beloved husband of the late Alice M. (Roche) Ivers. He is the devoted father of Charles Ivers and his wife Barbara, Edward Ivers and his wife Nicole, James Ivers and his wife Margot, Catherine Davis and Daniel Ivers. The cherished grandfather of 13 and loving great grandfather of 12, Charles is the dear brother of the late Daniel Ivers and the late Lolita Shea. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service Celebrating Charles' Eternal Life will be held on Tuesday, January 22nd at 11am in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family prior to the Service beginning at 9am in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
