If we knew the last time was going to be the last time, would we have done anything different? The most important thing we could have done was say I love you and that we did. So did you.
We talked about the plans you were making for yourself, finally getting your license back so you could be more independent. Starting a new job that would allow you to save money so you could buy a place of your own. You were learning all you could about investing in the market and had started your own account.
While Tiger Woods had nothing to worry about, golf was becoming part of your life. We told you how proud we were that you were overcoming the demon that wanted to take all this from you. What a great friend and support you were helping others beat that demon so they could also realize what life had to offer.
We talked about every day, ordinary things because it was an ordinary day. We were planning on many more ordinary days ahead. What we did not discuss was how much your family needed you to hang around. What a big hole would be left behind if you were not here. How much your dry humor and mastery of one liners would be missed. How Boston sports teams would have one less staunch fan and we all know Bill Belichick cannot afford that.
How people who had yet to meet you would miss out not knowing your big heart. How seeing a kit kat bar would bring a smile and a tear because it was your favorite. Talking about those things would have been too much like a last goodbye and we were not ready for that. We are still not. We are not saying goodbye but rest easy Chris, we all love you.
