In Loving Memory of Christopher James Young

Chris Young, 64, a beloved husband, a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother and a true friend, passed away on June 9, 2026, in hospice care at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center surrounded by his wife, her family and his chosen family. Born on September 6, 1961, in Medford, Massachusetts, Chris' life was a testament of resilience. He fought to overcome things that would have broken most people but he never gave up and never surrendered.

Chris was a man of many talents and passions. He and Ginny were married for 30 years, together for 33. He spent his career, 45 years, as a technician working for Verizon. He was eclectic, and had a way of making people feel like they were the most interesting person in the room. Because of that, he was always interesting to talk to. He could find a subject that resonated with whomever he was speaking with but seemed to have an almost encyclopedic knowledge when it came to music, theater and movies. He was a lover of music, especially classic and progressive rock. He took up guitar and bass in his 50s and took lessons until the cancer made it too hard.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen “Ginny” Young, his daughter Kerri Thompson, her husband Michael and their two children, his grandchildren, Allison and Brady, his sister Laura Young, his brother and sister-in-law Timothy and Rainy Young. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him. Chris's memory will live on through his wife and chosen family, including Thom Henry, Lisa and Al McAveeney and Richie Cameron, who enriched his life with their unwavering respect, loyalty, love and support.

A memorial service to celebrate Chris' life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. Stoneham, Massachusetts 02180.  Parking attendants and elevator are available.
