Claire A. O'Brien

Claire A. (Sliney) O'Brien, age 84, a longtime resident of Reading, formerly of Wakefield, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital

Claire grew up in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. During her years in school, she was a Wakefield High School Cheerleader. For many years, she worked at the Reading Light Department as the Credit Manager. Claire was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Wakefield and an active volunteer at the Mission of Deeds in Reading. Claire was also an avid sports fan. She took pride in her husband's coaching career through his years at M.I.T., Tufts and Holy Cross College and also took great pride in her grandchildren's athletic accomplishments. Claire's greatest joy came from being with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Claire is the beloved wife of 63 years to Francis O'Brien. Devoted Mother of Kevin O'Brien, Kathy Bard and her husband Paul, Karen Andreoli and her husband John, Kelly O'Brien and Kristine Ross and her husband Dave Reinhart Cherished Grandmother of Daniel Bard and his wife Adair, Jared Bard and his wife Courtney, Kait Ross, John F. Andreoli, Luke Bard and his wife Taylor, Molly Ross, Kaila Gottlick, Kathryn Andreoli, Shaelin Gottlick, Jake Ross, Khloe O'Brien, Owen Gottlick, Liam Gottlick and Colin, Garret and Whitney O'Brien. Great Grandmother of Davis Bard, Graham Bard and Sykes Bard. Beloved daughter of the late Edmund and Catherine (Dingle) Sliney. Loving Sister of Roy Nickerson, USMC and the late David Sliney and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass Celebrating Claire's Eternal Life will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:30am. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the mass at St. Joseph's Church from 9:30am-10:30am.

Interment will be at Wood End Cemetery, Reading.
