Curtis J. Surette

August 27, 1922 — February 12, 2005

Curtis J. Surette of Bellingham, formerly of Stoneham passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester. He was 82 years of age.





Born in Andover, Cutis was a longtime resident of Stoneham. He was the son of the late Amos Surette and Jacqueline (Pothier) Surette. Curtis was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.





Curtis was a dedicated employee for the Stoneham School Department for many years. He was retired from the United States Navy. He was a proud Veteran of World War II, The Korean Conflict, The Cuban Missile Crisis and The Vietnam War. He served on the USS Saratoga and the USS Wasp. He spent 22 years in the Navy.





Curtis belonged to the Stoneham American Legion. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He was also an usher at St. Patrick's Church.





Curtis was the beloved husband of the late May Theresa (Boudreau) Surette. He was the devoted father of Robert Surette of Burlington, Marc Surette of West Palm Beach, Florida, Carol Darcy of Readington, New Jersey and Brian Surette of Bellingham. He was the cherished grandfather of Julia Surette of Milwaukee Wisconsin, Jennifer Belanger of Nashua, New Hampshire, Douglas Surette of Sanbornville, New Hampshire and Jeffrey Surette of Reading, Joshua Darcy of Burlington, Vermont, Curtis and Renata Surette, both of Bellingham and Luke Darcy of Readington, New Jersey. He was the dear brother of Ralph Surette and Mae McNulty.





Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Wednesday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Curtis' life in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 9am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday 4-8pm. Parking attendants will be on duty. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
