Daniel J. Doran

Daniel J. Doran of Reading passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Winchester Hospital. He was 83 years of age.

Born in Reading, Daniel (Dicky) was the loving son of the late Daniel F. Doran and Mary (McNeil) Doran. Daniel was a caring son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and solider. He will be sadly missed.

Daniel was a dedicated and devoted firefighter for the Reading Fire Department, retiring after 32 years.

During the Korean War, Daniel proudly served as a United States Marine. Daniel proudly defended our freedom by serving as Sergeant, Administrative Chief.

Daniel was the beloved husband of Bernardine (Surette) Doran with whom he shared 32 years of marriage. He was the devoted father to his three daughters, Lynn Lucci, Colleen Joyce and Shelly (Shells) Doran. Daniel was the loving grandfather of Thomas Lucci, Robert Joyce, Danielle Joyce and Christina Lucci. He was also the great grandfather of Sawyer Joyce. Daniel was the dear brother of Elaine Whelpley McCraw, uncle of James Beaudion who was a loving and continued help to Daniel and his family. He leaves many other loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Daniel's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading at 10:00am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and handicapped entrance are available. Interment with Military Honors Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
