David William Donovan

July 14, 1969 — January 7, 2017

David W. Donovan of Woburn, formerly of Somerville, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was 47 years of age.

Born on July 14, 1969 in Manchester, New Hampshire, David was the loving son of the late Harold Donovan and late Trudy (Fitzgerald) Wisniewski and her late husband Walter. David was a loving, full of life son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend.

David was the beloved husband of Marisol (Benejam) Donovan. He was the devoted and loving father of Samantha Donovan, Alexis Duddy and Liam Donovan. The dear brother of Robin Cabral, he was the adoring nephew of Janet Nardella and Ruth Fitzgerald.

David was a member of the Carpenters Union in his early twenties. Until one morning he noticed an ad in the newspaper looking for people interested in enrolling in a Biotech Program at Northeastern. He was not only among the first students accepted, but graduated with the second highest rank in the program. Over a period of 10 years, he worked in Biotech at Organogenesis, where he and his colleagues received a patent in 1999, and then he moved on as an Associate at Genzyme. In 2003, he decided to return to his roots and started his own business as a Finish Carpenter. One client referred to him as "an artist of the best kind". His exceptional craftsmanship and eye for detail were the reasons for his returned clientele.

In spite of his artistic abilities, it is his enthusiasm for life and positive attitude for which he is best known. He had an unquenchable desire to help others and make the world a better place. He was a daily inspiration to many through his quirky videos on Facebook and his vibrant personally when he entered a room. He pushed through even his worst days in order to improve upon the lives of others. He believed in living life to the fullest with declarations like "One go around…I'm making it count!" His constant confessions of love for his family never failed to be incredibly touching, and he provided consolation and hope to many of his friends and family. He devoted his life to making people happy, and treasured his family above all else.

His resounding laugh and sparkling smile will stay in the hearts of those he touched forever.
