David Daniel Geer

David Daniel Geer of Stoneham passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 19 years of age.

Dave was diagnosed with medullablastoma, a brain tumor, in 2006. He underwent proton radiation and chemotherapy and has been off treatment and in remission. Unfortunately, for the last four years, Dave has had many complications from treatment including severe migraines, abdominal pain and immunodeficiency. Recently, Dave had not been feeling like himself. He was in an unrelated car accident which prompted evaluation and treatment at the ER. Shortly thereafter, Dave became unresponsive and has continued to have seizures that have not responded well to medication. Due to respiratory distress, he was on a ventilator. The physicians were working hard to determine the exact reason for the seizures but think that the underlying cause may have been from viral encephalitis. Dave was a loving, sweet, gentle soul. He loved to exercise and enjoyed boxing. His family and friends were very important to him and he was very close with his younger brother, Dylan. He was looking forward to graduating from high school in May. His smile was contagious and he was always quick to give compliments to everyone he knew. Dave was very brave and was a true fighter! He will be missed by all who knew him. His mom, dad & Dylan will miss him forever.

Dave was the beloved son of John Geer and Donna (Wakely) Geer of Stoneham. He was the loving brother of Dylan Geer. Dave was the cherished grandson of Elaine M. and James M. Wakely of Medford and Lorraine Geer and the late James Geer of Medford. He was the dear nephew of David M. Wakely of Medford, Charlene Phillips and her husband Dave of Medway and James Geer, Jr. of Medford. Dave was also survived by many great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Monday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating David's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Sunday from 2-7 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
