Dominic A. Tavilla

Dominic A. Tavilla of Winchester, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016. He was 87 years of age.

Born on November 21, 1928 in Somervile, Dominic was the loving son of the late Antonino Tavilla and Antonina (Freni) Tavilla. Dominic was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed.

Dominic served for 20 years on the Somerville Fire Department and worked for most of his life in the fruit and produce business in Haymarket Square in Boston, MA.

Dominic was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Cucinotta) Tavilla. He was the devoted father of Nina DelFavero and her husband Eugene, Camille Early, Maria Arria and her husband John and Angela Melkonian and her husband Melkon. The cherished grandfather of Natalie, Domenic, Daved, Michael, Marissa, David, Adrianna, Stephen and Aleixs , Dominic was the dear brother of the late Maria Tavilla and Salvatore Tavilla. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

During the Korean War, Dominic proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Friday, September 2nd at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Dominic's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Thursday, September 1st from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
