Donald O. Devereaux

Donald O. Devereaux of Stoneham passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 7, 2024.  He was 88 years of age.

Born on Saturday, August 3, 1935 in Somerville, Donald was the loving son of the late Arthur A. Devereaux and Thelma R. (Anderson) Devereaux.  He was the middle son to his four late brothers, Arthur, Daniel, John and Michael.

Donald was a warm, kind and loyal son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend who was smiling until his last days. He will be deeply missed.

Donald led a long and happy life full of many accomplishments, and was happiest with his family and friends. He was a military veteran of the Korean War and was proud of his time served. Don worked as a letter carrier at the post office before retiring. He enjoyed his time at the Dante Club, up the trailer, and anywhere he could sit around a campfire or watch a sports game. Quick to crack a joke, Don loved to see everyone around him happy and his quick wit was unmatched. He will be remembered fondly over a glass of Canadian Club and a game of cribbage by everyone lucky enough to have known him.

Donald was the beloved husband of 66 years of Marie (DeGeorge) Devereaux.  He was the devoted father of Don Devereaux and his wife Lisa, David Devereaux and his fiance Liz Marchese, Theresa Shannon and her husband Joe, Lisa Bridge and the late Rich Devereaux.  Don was the cherished grandfather, affectionately know as Papa, to Kelli Cudmore and her husband Paul, Jamie Maguire and her husband Sean, Jack Devereaux, David Devereaux, Scott Shannon, Joe Shannon, the late Nick Shannon, John Bridge - Lopez and his husband Tito, Jennifer Fermin and her husband AJ and Jake Bridge. Donald was the doting great grandfather of Cole and Nina.  He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services for Donald are private. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Woburn Country Club on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 5-9pm.
