Donald A. Martelli, a fabricator for Philips Lightolier in Wilmington, MA, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. He was 56.
A resident of Stoneham, MA, Martelli previously worked for Gillette for over 20 years as a mechanist. Previous to that, he worked as a sheet metal mechanic for Kimble, in Somerville.
Martelli was an avid musician, playing with his band "Olde Golde" at various locations around Greater Boston. In addition to his love for music, he fished with his friends and family during the warmer months in and around the North Shore as well as deep sea fishing at Cape Cod.
Last year, Martelli celebrated the Bruins Stanley Cup victory with his sons, who gave him a Bobby Orr Clock 22 years ago. Once the Bruins won, Martelli put the battery in the clock - a promise that was years in the making.
Formerly of Somerville, Martelli leaves behind his wife, Joanne of Stoneham; sons Donald E. and his wife Susan of Revere; Michael and his wife Jacalyn of Stoneham; step-daughters Krysta Cataldo of Stoneham; Jenna Cataldo-Butke and husband Daniel of Virginia; Mother Gwendolyn and step-father Rocky (deceased) DeSimone; Father Nicholas (deceased) Brother Louis and wife Sherry; Brothers Kevin and Nicholas; and sister Donna-Marie and husband Garett Flaherty; Grandchildren Kayla, Jordan, Samantha and Joseph; Sister-in-law Barbara Pollack (deceased) and husband William; Brother-in-law William Breen and wife Denise; Brother-in-law Robert Breen and wife Jennifer; and, Mother-in-Law Mary and father-in-law Raymond Breen (deceased).
A wake will be held at Barile Funeral Home, 482 Main Street, Stoneham, MA from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10am at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, MA.
