Dorothy "Dot" Capozzi

Dorothy (Dot) Capozzi of Burlington, MA, formerly of Revere and East Boston, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2018, at the age of 95. Dot, was born in London, England, to Dorothy Evelyn Watts and Benjamin George Pengelly on March 23, 1922. She grew up in London with a brother (David) and survived the Nazi bombing raids during WW II while working in an airplane factory.

Dorothy (Watts Pengelly) married Ernest Capozzi in 1951 while he was stationed in Europe with the U.S. Navy. Following Ernie's 20 years of duty they settled in East Boston to raise their family. Ernie and Dot were happily married for 44 years, until his death in 1995.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts - State Banking Commissioner was Dot's employer until she retired in 1992. During her tenure Dorothy was honored during awards ceremonies by then Governor Michael Dukakis. Dot was a strong woman who was devoted to her family and is survived by her three children, Michael Edward Capozzi and his wife Colleen (Foley); Daniel Richard Capozzi and his wife Michele (Chenery); and Kathy Marie and her husband, Dr. John McGhee. Dorothy leaves behind 5 grandchildren - Andrea Michele Capozzi, Rachel Lyn Capozzi, Daniel Ross Capozzi and his wife Amanda (Wade), Elizabeth Ann Capozzi and Megan Danielle Baillie; as well as 6 step-grandchildren - Jeffrey Beaulieu, Lindsay Beaulieu, Tara Chenery, Nathan Titus, Bethany Keller, and Katy Geary.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories at the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) Stoneham on Tuesday, January 9th, from 4:00 to 7:00pm.

A Memorial Service at the Funeral Home will be held immediately following the visitation at 7:00pm.

Committal services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at 12:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Dorothy are gratefully accepted at the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA).
