Dorothy Isabel (Doucette) Hoyt of Reading passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Winchester Hospital. She was 96 years of age.
Born on February 29, 1920 in Melrose, Dot was the loving daughter of the late Isaiah Doucette and Mary C. (DeCourcey) Doucette. Dot was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Dot was a long time resident of Reading and loved supporting the Reading Rockets, especially the Marching Band. She was an avid reader and enjoyed finding new adventures at the library. Dot loved the outdoors, whether in the forest, at the ocean, or in the mountains. She volunteered at Winchester Hospital for 27 years and her "Wednesday people" were very special to her.
Dot was the beloved wife of the late Carl H. Hoyt, Jr. She was the devoted mother of Patricia Johns, Carol Griffith and her husband William, Linda Jones and her husband William, Judith Owens and her husband Monte, Constance Russell and her husband David, Charles Hoyt and his wife Theresa, and the late Gerald Hoyt and his surviving wife Betsey. The cherished grandmother of 23, including the late Bonnie Hoyt, Dot was the loving great grandmother of 37 and great great grandmother of 9. She was pre-deceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Thursday, February 23rd at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Dorothy's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:00am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Wednesday, February 22nd from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available. Interment Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
