Dorothy (Dot) is the beloved wife of the late Edward Kozlowski. She is the cherished mother of Gail Welch and her husband Murray and Robert Kozlowski and his wife Cheryl. She is the devoted grandmother of Jennifer and her husband Matthew Bartlett, Michael Kozlowski, Laura Kozlowski, Lynn and her husband Patrick Barry, Lisa Kozlowski and Richie Abkarian, Bradford Wright, Andrew Welch, and Matthew Welch and is the great grandmother of Tyler, Mason, and Evan Bartlett. Dot is the loving sister of the late Walter Kirkland and his late wife Marcella. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
Dot had a successful career in the insurance industry at John Hancock. When her children were school age, she became certified as a special education paraprofessional and worked in the Robin Hood, Colonial, and North schools in Stoneham. Prior to retiring from Stoneham Schools, she served as the Work Study Program Coordinator at the High School. In both positions “Mrs. K”, as she was affectionately known, was revered by her students and made a difference in their lives.
In 1983, Dot joined Meadow Brook Golf Club where she played countless rounds of golf with her friends of which she had many. She especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the Nine and Dine league with its fun competitions and lively 19th hole. Meadow Brook was her happy place.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with Dot’s family on Monday April 24, 2023, from 3 pm to 7 pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (Rt. 28) in Stoneham. Parking attendants and elevator available.
On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, the Funeral will proceed from the Barile Family Funeral Home at 9:30 am to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5 Bryant St. Wakefield for a Funeral Service at 10:30 am celebrating Dot’s incredible life. Interment will follow at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
