Douglas F. Surette of Stoneham passed away on Sunday March 14, 2004 at Melrose - Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. He was 83 years of age.
Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late Henry A. Surette and Jacqueline M. (Porter) Surette. Douglas was a loving and caring son, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.
Douglas was a dedicated supervisor for the Metropolitan District Commission for many years before retiring. During World War II, Douglas proudly served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. For his heroic efforts he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Douglas was a devoted member of the V.F.W., the D.A.V. and the Americal Division of World War II of the South Pacific.
Douglas was the beloved husband of 52 years to Muriel (Doucette) Surette. He was the dear brother of Curtis J. Surette of Bellingham, Ralph Surette of Burlington, May McNulty of Stoneham and the late John E. Surette. Douglas was also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Wednesday 4-8pm. Parking attendants will be on duty. Interment will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
