Dr. Ralph John Lauretano
May 12, 1935 - June 26, 2026
Dr. Ralph J. Lauretano, Sr. of Winchester, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. Born on May 12, 1935, he was 91 years old.
Ralph was the beloved husband of Marie Lauretano (Campisano). He was the devoted father of Dr. Ralph J. Lauretano and his wife Michelle and the late Charles J. Lauretano. Ralph was the cherished grandfather “Grampy” to Emily Lauretano and Gianna Lauretano. He was the dear brother of Sandra Hartzler and Carol Lauretano. He was the dear brother-in-law of Cheryl Lauretano. Ralph was the loving uncle of Linnea Johnson and her wife, Marcy, Mark Hartzler and his wife, Nancy, Eric Hartzler, Katherine Cole and her husband Matt, and Michael Lauretano and his wife Danielle. He is also survived by his great nephew, great nieces, many cousins and close friends.
Ralph was predeceased by his dear son, Charles J. Lauretano. Ralph was also predeceased by his father, Cosmo Lauretano, his mother Margaret Lauretano, his brother, Dr. Leo R. Lauretano, his brother-in-law Glen Hartzler and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Johnson and her husband Walter.
Ralph was born in Somerville on Mother’s Day. He was a proud Double Jumbo, earning both a BS in Physics and a DMD from Tufts University. Ralph served in the Army after graduating from dental school. Upon his honorable discharge, Ralph opened his dental practice in Winchester. Affectionately known as “Dr. Ralph”, he enjoyed getting to know his patients and took great pride in caring for them for over fifty years. Devoted to his family, he was proud to work alongside his brother, Dr. Leo, his sisters, Carol and Sandra, and his son, Dr. RJ. He was a long-time, active member of Tufts Alumni Association and many professional dental associations.
Ralph's wife of sixty years, Marie was the love of his life. Ralph was a devoted and loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with Marie, taking long drives, going to musicals and the symphony, visiting museums, dancing, eating out, entertaining in their home, watching the Celtics and the Red Sox and spending time with their children, granddaughters, family and friends. Ralph was an avid golfer and long-time member of the Winchester Country Club. A lifelong learner, Ralph was a voracious reader and enjoyed reading about a myriad of subjects.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Ralph’s family on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 5–8pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) Stoneham. Parking attendants and elevator are available.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28), Stoneham on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham at 10am. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ralph’s memory to Boston Children's Hospital, Neurology Department, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
