Edmund J. Sheehan

February 20, 1928 — April 18, 2010

Edmund J. Sheehan, Jr. of Stoneham formerly of Reading & Rockport, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010 in Reading. He was 82 years of age.



Born in Medford, Edmund was the son of the late Elizabeth M. (Daly) Sheehan and Edmund J. Sheehan.



Edmund was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all.



Edmund "Mundo" Sheehan graduated from Malden Catholic in 1946. He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1948 as a seaman on the USS Witek. Returning from military service, he attended and graduated with a BA from Merrimack College in 1952 . Immediately upon graduation, he began a distinguished 40 year sales career with The New England Telephone Company . He was recognized for his outstanding sales achievement in 1982 when he was inducted into the New England Sales Hall of Fame. Retiring in 1992 as an executive of the NYNEX Company, Mundo continued with his passion for sales in the Real Estate business. During his retirement , he was a proud inductee into Malden Catholic Hall of Fame, Class of 1944, for hockey. Mundo will be remembered by so many for his love of his family, children and grandchildren, displayed by his constant presence in their lives. He loved to attend sporting and dancing events. Ed and his wife, Anne, cherished their 57 years together and the sharing of their love of family and friends. Ed was also presented with the "Celtic Cross Award for Courage" for his perseverance after suffering a stroke in 2001.



Edmund was the beloved husband of Anne H. (Hartin) Sheehan. Devoted father of Steve Sheehan and his wife Pam of Lexington, Brianne Duff and her husband John of Georgetown, Karen Bernard and her husband John of Winchester, Elizabeth Florentino and her husband Jim of West Roxbury, Lesley Sheehan of Stoneham, Patricia Fay and her husband Dick of Madbury, NH, Joseph Sheehan and his wife Erin of Winchester, Annemarie Baker and her husband Chris of Beverly. Cherished grandfather of Charles, Matthew and Amanda Sheehan, Johnathan, Ashleigh and T. Barrett Duff, Kailene, Christopher, Kelley, Courtney & Chaneigh Bernard, Lea, James, Robert, Gerard, Anthony Florentino, Anna Sheehan, Shannon, Morgan Fay, Madeline, Camille, Patrick Sheehan.



Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Thursday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Edmund's life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday from 3-7 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment with Military Honors at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
