Edward G. Callahan, of Stoneham, age 78, beloved husband of Joan (Donohoe) Callahan, with whom he shared 44 years of married, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 21, 2018 as a result of an accident in Coleraine, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Born in Somerville, he is the son of the late Bernard and Gertrude (Welsh) Callahan.
Eddie grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. For many years, Eddie was employed as a specialist repairman for the MBTA Greenline until his retirement. Eddie enjoyed fishing, animals, especially his dog LuLu. He was a devoted husband and father and will truly be missed by his loving family and many friends.
He is the loving father of the late Sean Callahan. Beloved brother of Mary MacDonald, Eleanor Murphy, the late Bernard Callahan, the late Joan Collins and the late Robert Callahan. Cherished uncle to many nieces, nephews.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (Rt 28) Stoneham on Monday, July 2nd at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Edward's Eternal Life at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Eddie's Family in the funeral home on Sunday, July 1st, from 4 to 7pm.
Interment will be held privately.
