Edward J. Kearns

March 4, 1924 — October 5, 2005

Edward J. Kearns of Stoneham passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at his home. He was 81 years of age.





Born in Charlestown, he was the son of the late Francis J. Kearns and Zita (Kyle) Kearns. Edward was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.





Edward was a dedicated employee for the U.S. Postal Services for over 35 years where he was also a Branch Superintendent. He was a former member of the Stoneham Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Mt. Hood Golf Club in Melrose and a member of the N.A.R.F.E. During World War II, Edward proudly defended our freedom while serving in the United States Navy.





Edward was the beloved husband of Catherine (Collins) Kearns. He was the devoted father of Edward J. Kearns of North Carolina, Maureen Kearns of Boston, Kathleen Horgan of Middleton, Eileen Faro of Florida, Sandy Kearns of Winthrop, Coleen Kearns of New Hampshire, Christine McCarty of Connecticut, Patricia Guay of Concord, and Michael Kearns of Pennsylvania. Edward was the cherished grandfather of 18 and great grandfather of 5. He was also predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister.





Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. STONEHAM Tuesday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Edward's life in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 pm. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
