Eileen E. (McNevin) DiGangi

July 1, 1927 — December 2, 2021

Eileen E. (McNevin), of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 2, 2021. She was 94 years of age.

"Eileen was a woman of extraordinary faith and moral conviction, and those characteristics served as guiding principles throughout her life. Whether she was marching in protest of the Vietnam War, volunteering two years of her life to work with the poor in the Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky, or delivering "Meal on Wheels" to the needy, she was the embodiment of pure Christian values. A Stoneham resident for nearly seventy years, a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Patrick's Church, and a leader in its "C.C.D." program, she left an indelible mark on all of those in her community. A church member once described her as the "Mother Teresa" of St. Patrick's Parish.

Her children revere and remember her for her moral integrity and for constantly reminding them to "say no to drugs:" sage advice that they almost always followed. A voracious reader, an avid crossword completer, and a below-average cook, she was a tough, Irish broad who had no flaws, but understood and accepted them in others. She was a trusted, generous friend, a loyal wife, a loving, caring mother and an even better person. Those of us that knew her here on earth realize that our loss is surely heaven's gain.

Eileen was the beloved wife of the late Vincent DiGangi. Cherished mother of Janet DiGangi, Christopher DiGangi and his wife Joan, Peter DiGangi and his wife Jane, Tom DiGangi, Steve DiGangi and his late wife Michelle and the late Paula DiGangi-Norton and Matthew DiGangi. Devoted grandmother of eight and great grandmother of two. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
