With heavy hearts, we announce Eleanor M. (Visocchi) Valente of Stoneham on July 1, 2026, just days shy of her 102nd birthday gained her angel wings. Born on July 4, 1926, Eleanor lived a life filled with love and devotion to her family and friends.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Frank T. Valente Sr. and the devoted mother of the late Frank T. "Frankie" Valente Jr. As a cherished grandmother to Tanya R. Valente, she was a guiding presence, more like a mother. Her legacy of love extends to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Daughter to the late Giovanni and Philomena (Arcieri) Visocchi, Eleanor was one of 8 girls and one boy. Her upbringing in the warmth of a large family and being raised “on The Hill” instilled her with values of loyalty, generosity, and compassion. She continued this throughout her years hosting family and cooking with the little she had. As she always said about her upbringing, "we didn't have much, but we had each other and never turned our backs on one another." These qualities defined her life's work, from graduating Stoneham High School to her dedicated years in the shoemaking industry and wartime efforts at GE.
Eleanor's life revolved around the unyielding love and care she gave to her family, especially her son and granddaughter. Her strength, resilience, and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. A woman of faith, she remained a shining light, dedicating her life to those she loved right to the very end. Her unbreakable loving nature will continue on in our memories and hearts. After the sudden, recent loss of her son and having lost all of her siblings and husband, hopefully she has been reunited and celebrating the wonderful life they had. And as her life has come to an end, as she would say at every goodbye, "Good luck, God speed God Bless, I love you forever for now and always."
"The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind."
"Where there is deep grief, there was great love."
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather and share memories on Wednesday, July 8, from 5-7 pm at the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) STONEHAM.
A Funeral Mass Celebrating Eleanor's Eternal Life will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 10 am in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street Stoneham. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
